Alderdi Eder fills as Donostia awaits Copa champions’ homecoming | OneFootball

According to Diario Vasco, Gipuzkoa will line the streets this afternoon as the Copa champions are welcomed in Donostia, with a 17:00 City Hall terrace surprise set by Süne and an open-top bus leaving Anoeta at 18:00 for Alderdi Eder.

The heroes of La Cartuja were greeted yesterday after landing in Hondarribia and heading to Zubieta, thousands lining the route. That was only a taster for today’s homecoming for this fourth trophy.

Donostiarras Olaia Sarriegui and her daughter June Díaz reached Alderdi Eder at 12:00 after a promise to skip ikastola if La Real won. They expect to wait until the scheduled 19:00 arrival, sustained by burgers, sweets and water.

Intxaurrondo neighbours Itziar Gómez and Oihane Piñalba sat down at 13:00 with sandwiches. They were in Sevilla and wanted the front row again. Itziar, recalling 1987, fancied 2-1, felt nerves against the same rival, then in extra time thought of Zaragoza and likened Marrero’s saves to Arconada’s.

They also highlighted the tribute to Aitor Zabaleta and praised the team’s turnaround under Rino Matarazzo, crediting his tactics.

More than 100,000 are expected in central Donostia along a route just over three kilometres, with the weather set fair. Over 300 children will take part in a tamborrada infantil to Sarriegi’s music and the Real anthem. Festivities at Alderdi Eder are scheduled to end at 21:00.
