Last week, reports emerged that the left-back’s agent, Jorge Mendes, had discussed his client’s situation at the club.

The super-agent was keen to find out whether his player was still guaranteed a key role under Hansi Flick, especially after the signing of Joao Cancelo.

Those talks seemingly left Balde and his camp concerned, with reports thereafter suggesting Mendes was looking for a new home for his client. Over the weekend, it then emerged that Balde has decided to leave Camp Nou.

Indeed, on Sunday, Hansi Flick left him out of Barcelona’s matchday squad for the league clash with Elche.

What Man United are willing to offer for Alejandro Balde

While everything suggests Balde is closer than ever to the Barcelona exit door, some interesting claims have emerged about what Manchester United are willing to propose to bring him to M16.

As per ESPN’s Rob Dawson: “United would prefer to negotiate a season-long loan deal with an option to make the move permanent.”

However, a loan proposal will not sit well with the Spanish champions, as reputable Spanish journalist Javi Miguel explains:

“Balde knows perfectly well the reasons why Flick does not count on him. He has the doors open to leave. The club rules out a loan. They want a transfer, with no buy-back option.”

A compromise will have to be made

With United wanting a loan deal and Barcelona wanting a permanent transfer, the two clubs find themselves in a tricky position.

Yet given Barcelona’s clear desire to force him out, they arguably have little bargaining power here.

Therefore, if United hold firm on the terms they are willing to strike this deal for, they may leave the Catalan giants with no choice but to compromise on their demands.
