Manchester United parted ways with Alejandro Garnacho this summer for £40 million.
Manager Ruben Amorim was not a fan of the young winger and forced him out of Old Trafford.
Despite bagging 11 goals and 10 assists for Man Utd during a tumultuous season, the Portuguese tactician opted to push Garnacho out.
However, the Chelsea attacker holds no grudges. Garnacho said (via TNT Sports): “I’ve got nothing bad to say about my old club, Manchester United.
“There are just bad moments in life. I’m very happy to be here now, play in this competition and get three points today.”
Garnacho is still settling in at Chelsea, but he provided a significant contribution as the Blues beat Benfica at Stamford Bridge.
His cross came off Richard Rios and went into the back of the net. He was constantly trying things, and even though not all of them were successful, his performance was still noteworthy.
Garnacho earned praise from Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca for his performance.
Garnacho’s departure is another symptom of Amorim’s struggles to connect with his squad.
His relationship with Marcus Rashford also soured, while several other players have underwhelmed during his time at the club.
United have poured sizeable resources into reshaping the attack, but the results this season have been unconvincing.
The inability to utilise Garnacho and Rashford, while overseeing a squad still floundering despite significant investment, raises uncomfortable questions about his man-management.
United remain stagnant, and his failure to integrate players is becoming a damning indictment of his tenure.
