Álex Lizancos has suffered a partial meniscus tear during training and will undergo surgery tomorrow. According to Superdeporte, the Burgos CF right-back’s setback reshapes the market for right-backs this summer.
The recovery is estimated at six to eight weeks, a timeline that virtually rules out a transfer before the window shuts. Lizancos had been close to joining Osasuna, but the move now looks likely to be paused in light of the operation.
The injury alters Burgos’s plans too, removing, for now, one of their most promising players and cooling a sale that had seemed on track.
Valencia CF had never made Lizancos a priority this summer, though he was on a long list of monitored options if other deals collapsed. He was also a genuine candidate last summer before the club changed direction.
For Valencia, the setback removes another possibility in a position already complicated. With Thierry already out of the club, Foulquier injured, Rubo Iranzo attracting interest from Spanish sides and only academy options such as Gamón or Monferrer, the pool has thinned further.
