New record for Nigerian in Premier League.

Alex Iwobi sets new record for Nigeria in England!
A personal triumph was etched into the record books on Saturday, even as his team faced late heartbreak. In the midst of Fulham's tough 2-1 loss to Newcastle United, midfielder Alex Iwobi quietly carved out his own piece of history, becoming the first Nigerian footballer ever to make 300 appearances in the Premier League.
This monumental milestone, reached at St. James' Park, sees the 29-year-old nephew of the mercurial Jay-Jay Okocha surpassing the previous Nigerian record of 298 games, held fittingly by former Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi. While the match itself was decided by a crushing late goal from Bruno Guimaraes, Iwobi's full 90-minute shift culminating in a 74% pass completion rate was a testament to the durability and consistency that has defined his near-decade in England's top flight.
His journey to this elite landmark began with a debut for Arsenal in October 2015, weaving through a significant spell at Everton before arriving at his current home in Fulham. This longevity has now granted him entry into one of the league's most exclusive clubs.
Iwobi now stands as only the fifth African player to achieve the 300-game feat, placing his name among continent legends like Kolo Touré, Mohamed Salah, Wilfried Zaha, and Jordan Ayew—a crowning achievement for a career built on relentless presence at the highest level.
