Alexander Bah released from Denmark squad after shoulder setback | OneFootball

Alexander Bah has suffered a recurrence of a right shoulder injury and the Benfica right-back has been released from Denmark duty.

The Danish federation said in a statement that he sustained the setback during Benfica’s weekend match, underwent medical tests, and will not be available for the upcoming internationals.

The 28-year-old had started less than 48 hours earlier in the clássico against Porto at the Estádio do Dragão.

Bah has begun the season well for Benfica, but his momentum was first checked by a shoulder problem picked up away to Marítimo at the Estádio do Barreiros on 5 September.

He returned to training before the European meeting with Milan, of Ruben Amorim, but Marco Silva chose to keep him back for the trip to Italy, reserving him for the visit to the Dragão.

The relapse should now enforce a spell on the sidelines, although the pause in club competitions should allow Marco Silva to fully recover the right-back. Benfica’s next match is scheduled for 11 October, a home game against Vitória SC on matchday eight of the Primeira Liga.
