Alexander Isak made his first appearance for Sweden since sealing a £125 million move to Liverpool from Newcastle United on deadline day.
The 25-year-old failed to get on the scoresheet as Sweden lost 2-0 to Kosovo in a World Cup qualifier.
Isak was an unused substitute in Friday’s 2-2 draw with Slovenia, but manager Jon Dahl Tomasson featured him off the bench for the final 18 minutes against Kosovo.
Sweden trailed 2-0 following first-half goals from Elvis Rexhbecaj and Vedat Muriqi.
The British record signing made a lively start as he was responsible for two of his team’s four shots on target.
However, he was booked shortly after his introduction and squandered two big chances.
Isak recorded 17 touches in the game and completed 80 percent of his passes. He lost possession three times.
Given that he is coming off the back of a difficult summer, Isak’s performance was satisfactory.
The highly-rated striker missed out on Newcastle’s pre-season schedule after choosing not to travel with the team.
He actively sought a move to Liverpool and finally got his desired transfer on deadline day.
Isak angered Newcastle supporters with his behaviour, and their relationship will never mend.
Liverpool are set to return to Premier League action this weekend when they visit Burnley.
However, Isak is unlikely to start as he has not played a club match since May.
