Alexis Duarte has joined Libertad on a one-year loan from Santos, with the Brazilian club expected to pay half of his wages. According to Diario Do Peixe, the Paraguayan defender had slipped down Juan Pablo Vojvoda’s pecking order.

He has played only once this year, against Chapecoense in the league opener, and errors in that heavy defeat led the club to seek a move in the market.

In the Paulistão he was on the bench for the clássico with Corinthians at Vila Belmiro and was left out of the other eight matchday squads. In Serie A, after starting the first round, he was not named in the next two.

Last year he started against Red Bull Bragantino, Grêmio, Ceará and Palmeiras, and played half a game against Botafogo.

Duarte arrived last year from Spartak Moscow for 4 million dollars and signed a deal through 2029. The No 23 has made only six appearances for Santos. He has been called up by Paraguay and debuted for the Albirroja in November last year.

The 25-year-old, nicknamed Pulpito, came through Cerro Porteño’s academy, winning the Paraguayan Apertura in 2020 and Clausura in 2021. He joined the Russian club in 2023 for his first experience abroad.
