Equi Fernandez well-liked at Liverpool

The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder is going to be the subject of a major transfer hunt involving clubs from across the continent according to a new report in Fussball Daten.

And piecing together the puzzle it would be no surprise to see Liverpool among that number.

Fernandez joined Leverkusen from Saudi outfit Al-Qadsiah last summer - inking a deal until 2030. The left-footer could go for between £47m and £56m according to the report.

Liverpool have been linked with Fernandez once before. Back in 2023 - when Fernandez was preparing to play in the Copa Libertadores final for Boca Juniors - it emerged that he was on the radar.

The deal ultimately went nowhere with the player deciding to move to Saudi Arabia - but the time may well be now for an Anfield arrival.

One Liverpool player is already on the record about Fernandez’s quality and potential - none other than Mac Allister.

Mac Allister endorses Fernandez

“If you ask me a little more about my style, there is a player that I really like and that is Equi Fernández,” the Liverpool No10 told TyCSports during his Brighton days.

“He is a player who has all the conditions to reach Europe one day and I hope that can happen to him.

“He is a player that I like a lot, he understands the game a lot. He is always prepared to receive the ball, he plays with both legs, he can play as a five, as an inside player… he is a player who has certain very good conditions and, if Brighton asked me, I would say his name.”

Bayer Leverkusen star Fernandez rated at £47m to £56m

There are many reasons why Fernandez now ticks all the boxes for Liverpool.

“Top English clubs looking to bolster their midfield with a robust yet technically gifted player have already compiled detailed scouting reports on Fernández,” the report reads.

“His press resistance and vertical passing accuracy are considered particularly well-suited to the high tempo of English football.

“Sources report initial talks between the player's representatives and clubs from the Premier League and La Liga.”

This would be a signing coming out of left field but Liverpool have done their homework and Mac Allister has already given his seal of approval.

All signs point to Equi Fernandez arriving at Liverpool imminently.
