Alexsandro sent off 13 minutes into Lille return against Rennes

Alexsandro was sent off 13 minutes into his Lille return against Rennes in Ligue 1.

As reported by L'ÉEquipe, it was his first appearance since mid-September after a right quadriceps injury. Starting on matchday 17 at Decathlon Arena in Villeneuve-d'Ascq, he saw red from referee Éric Wattellier.

The dismissal followed a professional foul on Breel Embolo, moments after the forward had robbed him near a dangerous area from a throw-in, and seemed set to break clear.

Lille reacted angrily. Captain Benjamin André was cautioned, and head coach Bruno Genesio was filmed showing his disbelief in the technical area.

With Chancel Mbemba and Aïssa Mandi away at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco with their national teams, the Dogues could only turn to 17-year-old Maxima Goffi on the bench.
