Algeria 3 – Zimbabwe 1: the Greens in full flow!

Algeria 3 – Zimbabwe 1: the Greens show no mercy!
In Jeddah, the Algerian national team kicked off their international break in style, dominating Zimbabwe (3–1) with authority, despite fielding a heavily rotated starting eleven and an experimental three-man defense. Missing several key players and with Mahrez and Mandi left on the bench, Vladimir Petkovic seized the opportunity to try out new profiles—and the results were particularly encouraging.
The Greens quickly took command of the game with direct, vertical football, illuminated by the electric Mohamed Amoura. The VfL Wolfsburg striker, who scored one and assisted another, was the driving force of the night. It was Amoura who perfectly set up Bounedjah for the opening goal, bursting behind the defense with a razor-sharp run.
Just minutes later, Amoura struck again, this time going solo, weaving past three defenders before unleashing a thunderous strike into the top corner.
Algeria’s third goal came from Jaouen Hadjam, who fired home a stunning left-footed volley after a scramble in the box—emblematic of a surprisingly effective and attack-minded three-man backline.
Up next: Saudi Arabia, a much tougher opponent. Petkovic will need to maintain this momentum of speed, intensity, and bold choices… with just a month to go before the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
