Algeria national team manager Vladimir Petković is expected to shake up his expanded squad list ahead of the March training camp, with notable changes anticipated in the goalkeeper department.

The 'Fennecs' open up competition for the goalkeeper position

According to the specialist site La Gazette du Fennec, the Algerian Football Federation, in partnership with the technical staff, is working to overhaul this key position in preparation for the future.

Although Luca Zidane has established himself as the number one goalkeeper since his arrival last October and featured at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, his spot is no longer guaranteed.

The expanded roster now includes three promising young shot-stoppers: Melvin Mastil, a regular starter for Stade Nyonnais in Switzerland; Abdellah El Aidani, who recently moved to Italian side Modena in search of more playing time; and Kilian Belazzoug, who continues to make strides with Stade Rennais' reserve squad.

These players stand out for their towering stature and physical power, traits that reflect the technical staff's desire to rely on goalkeepers who can dominate their penalty area.
