The Algerian national team could soon learn the names of two illustrious opponents for the upcoming FIFA window in March. According to several Algerian sources, notably journalist Samir Kaabouche, the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has finalized talks to set up two friendly matches against Costa Rica and Uruguay.

The same sources indicate that, contrary to previous reports suggesting England as the host, these matches will actually take place elsewhere in Europe. The host country remains undisclosed for now, and no official dates have been announced at this stage.

These two tests will provide a genuine benchmark for Vladimir Petkovic, who is eager to raise the Greens' level of preparation ahead of major upcoming challenges. Facing Marcelo Bielsa's Uruguay, one of the most exciting national teams of the moment, would offer Algeria a perfect opportunity to gauge their ambitions and address any weaknesses before the race to the 2026 World Cup.
