The outlet reports that Khalis Merah has been approached by the Algerian Football Federation. The player's father was contacted by the FAF to discuss a possible youth call-up. He made it clear, however, that the decision rests with his son. La Gazette du Fennec noted that the FAF, having seen several promising talents slip through its grasp, was "put off by his response" and has decided to step back for now. Khalis Merah currently plays for Lyon and represents the France U20 team.
