Leeds United Women midfielder Alice Hughes played a key role in the side's 2-0 victory on the road against Bradford City Women, scoring to double the lead deep into the second half.

Chloe Dixon forced the opener in the 15th minute, firing a free-kick at the near post and subsequently finding the back of the net via a deflection, before Hughes guaranteed the three points with 20 minutes remaining by bundling home from Brittany Sanderson's delivery.

Speaking to LUTV after the match, Hughes said: "A massive win. We will look back at the end of the season no matter what happens and look at that as a big moment.

"Obviously, we have started in the league really, really well. But I think to be able to put in a performance like that with 10 men, it adds another layer of confidence and resilience.

"As we keep saying each week, it's one week at a time and that's all we're focusing on.

"I think the momentum is always important, but we will take one challenge at a time and keep going that way.

"The beauty of our team has to be scoring loads of goals in lots of different ways," our number six added on the team's ability to find the back of the net via set-pieces when required.

"Even today, I should have probably had at least a couple more that I should have finished!"

Facing the same opposition the following week, this time in Group T of the FA WNL Cup, Hughes added: "It's a physical battle. We respect each opponent that we have.

"The cup adds a little bit of a different element to it, but we are just trying to take each match that comes up and win each game."
