Aliou Dieng goes from Valencia bench to Mali cameo in 3-1 win over Cabo Verde | OneFootball

Aliou Dieng came off the bench as Mali beat Cabo Verde 3-1 in Bamako in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying. According to Superdeporte, he is the first Valencia international to feature in this international window.

The midfielder started on the bench and played the final 29 minutes, replacing Amadou Haidara with the score already 3-1.

He was rated 6.5, completed 94% of his passes, made one error in possession, won two duels and conceded one foul.

Dieng had started Mali’s previous four matches, against Tunisia and Senegal in January, Russia in March and Iran in June. Including tonight, he is one cap short of 50 for his country since debuting in 2026.

At club level this follows two recent bench roles at Valencia under Óscar Sánchez. He did not play in the win over Alavés or the defeat to Real Sociedad at Mestalla.

Before that he started and finished the losses to Barcelona and Sevilla under Carlos Corberán.
