FLW has ranked the 24 EFL Championship sides based on how loud they are

Throughout the 46 matches contested in the dugout during each Championship season, there is always a separate battle that takes place in the stands.

Supporters gather to cheer on their teams, with some fanbases naturally creating more noise than others, which can have a direct impact on their club’s performance.

With this in mind, Football League World have ranked the second-tier’s fanbases from loudest to quietest.

1 ? ? Sheffield Wednesday

Despite how poorly their club has been run over the past few years, Sheffield Wednesday’s support has remained excellent.

They consistently fill out away ends and always back their side in a strong voice, which can create quite an imposing atmosphere.

Coventry City’s support may have grown in recent times, but that doesn’t diminish how loud they can be on the terraces.

Whether at home or away, the Sky Blues can create a booming atmosphere, which has helped push their side on to great things this season.

3 ? ? Middlesbrough

Whilst perhaps not as impressive as their fellow North East counterparts, Sunderland and Newcastle, Boro enjoy an impressive following.

This in turn can produce some fantastic noise, especially on their travels, which is no doubt a boost for the players.

4 ? ? Birmingham City

A full St. Andrew’s can become a cauldron of noise and that is exactly what Birmingham have proven over the years.

They have also backed that up with impressive showings on the road this term, with the mood obviously at a massive high within Blues’ fanbase.

5 ? ? Derby County

Derby perhaps ought to have competed at a higher level more in their recent history due to their historic past, but they still have a top-quality supporter base.

Whether at Pride Park or away from home, the Rams’ faithful can produce brilliant noise, even in testing circumstances.

6 ? ? Sheffield United

Whilst not as strong as their arch-rivals Wednesday, Sheffield United fans still support their side in loud voice.

The Blades’ faithful consistently bring large numbers to both home and away clashes, but perhaps haven’t found it as easy to back Chris Wilder’s men this term.

Fratton Park consistently produces one of the most hostile environments on the Championship calendar, which is due to the sheer volume of Pompey's fans.

Whilst that isn’t fully replicated on the road, their home atmosphere earns them this placement.

8 ? ? West Brom

As one of the larger fanbases in the second-tier, West Brom produce one of the division’s better atmospheres.

Whilst not up to the level of Wednesday or Coventry, Albion fans still support their team in loud voice, visibly bouncing up and down when a goal goes in.

9 ? ? Millwall

Millwall are known for their vicious home atmosphere, but that doesn’t often translate onto the road.

Whilst they make the Den a tough place to visit, that noise isn’t always replicated elsewhere, which is why they don’t score higher.

10 ? ? Norwich City

Although not often thought of as one of the Championship’s best environments, a packed-out, enthusiastic Carrow Road can produce a large volume of sound.
