“All the nice things” Spalletti defends his comments on Kolo Muani | OneFootball

Luciano Spalletti was criticised for his comments on Randal Kolo Muani after the striker missed several good chances against Frosinone, and he has now clarified his statement.

The Frenchman is currently the main striker at Juventus, and the club spent significant time and money to bring him back during this transfer window.

Kolo Muani was also keen to return to the club and eventually got his wish, meaning this is now an opportunity for him to show that Juventus’ efforts were worthwhile.

The striker performed well during his previous spell with Juventus, and that successful loan is the reason the club pushed for a reunion. However, this is the first time he has worked with Spalletti.

Spalletti explains Kolo Muani’s comments

The attacker may need time to adapt to the new manager’s system, but Juventus created several good chances against Frosinone that he should have converted. His missed opportunities frustrated Spalletti, who did not hide his feelings during the post-match press conference.

The manager’s comments attracted criticism, with his remarks about Kolo Muani being viewed as particularly harsh after the match. However, Spalletti has now attempted to provide more context ahead of Juventus’ meeting with Parma.

The striker remains an important part of the manager’s plans, and Juventus will hope he can respond positively when given further opportunities in front of goal.

Juventus continue to back striker

Ahead of the Parma game, Sport Mediaset quotes Spalletti saying:

“I had made myself a sheet of paper with all the statements I made about Kolo: of all the nice things I said to him, you only liked that one. Maremma… We have spent so much on him and we want to put him in a position to give us back all the trust we have given him.”

Spalletti’s clarification suggests that his previous comments were not intended to undermine the striker, despite the criticism they generated. Instead, the Juventus manager appears to be emphasising the confidence the club has placed in Kolo Muani.

Having worked hard to bring him back to Turin, Juventus will expect the Frenchman to repay that faith with his performances. Kolo Muani now has another opportunity to demonstrate his quality and prove why the club wanted him back.
