Both Morata and Giménez set pulses racing across the Atlético fanbase late on Sunday.

This came upon confirmation being provided that their respective substitutions during the club’s downing of Valencia came owing to injury.

All associated with the Colchoneros, in turn, have since been awaiting an update on the situation with bated breath.

And, as alluded to above, this afternoon, as much has been forthcoming.

As per Cope, frontman Morata’s issue came in the form of an impact one, with ensuing tests having confirmed that he did not suffer any form of muscular damage.

The ex-Real Madrid man should therefore be available to face his former employers this weekend, though his readiness for Wednesday’s meeting with Rayo Vallecano remains unclear.

Giménez, on the other hand, has picked up a muscular problem.

Though it is said to be a minor one, the Uruguayan is nevertheless dealing with discomfort in one of his hamstrings.

He is, as a result, in line for a spell of one to two weeks out of action, meaning Sunday’s capital derby will certainly come too soon.
