Football finance expert Stefan Borson has tipped Amanda Staveley to turn her attention to Everton after failed West Ham takeover bid
Football finance expert Stefan Borson expects Amanda Staveley to turn her attention to Everton after her failed attempt to buy a minority stake in West Ham.
The former Newcastle United minority owner was first linked with a potential bid to buy a stake in the Hammers in the summer following their relegation to the Championship.
It was reported that the 53-year-old had an offer worth £150 million accepted to buy the 25.1 per cent stake owned by the Gold family.
However, existing shareholder Daniel Kretinsky made use of his pre-emption rights to usurp the deal, and the Czech businessman is now set to take control of this stake instead.
It remains to be seen what Staveley’s next step will be, with David Sullivan also still a shareholder of the London outfit.
But Kretinsky is now set to become the majority owner of the club following his agreement with Vanessa Gold, which has valued the Irons at around £600 million.

Borson believes that Staveley likely could turn her attention to Everton given she has already raised around £150 million as part of her attempt to buy a stake in West Ham this summer.
He’s claimed that the Toffees are a more attractive proposition than the Championship side, and that it would make sense for the 53-year-old to take a look at a possible ownership in the club, as it’s unlikely she only has eyes for West Ham.
"Amanda Staveley and her consortium could [get involved with Everton],” said Borson, via Football Insider.
“And that's really only on the basis that if they had, let's say, £150m raised to do the West Ham minority.
"There's a good chance that they can get themselves a seat at the table at Everton for a not dissimilar amount.
“Everton tick a lot of the boxes that West Ham did and didn't tick.
"You have to say that right now, Everton is a much better proposition for investment by Amanda Staveley than West Ham is.
"It's all very well saying that the opportunity around West Ham is in the stadium, but there's a huge cost to get to a solution there.
“And there's huge upside in Everton Stadium as well, and the real estate around there.
"So I would suggest that she must be looking at it if she's serious.
“It can't just be a case of only wanting West Ham."
Kretinsky first became a part of the West Ham ownership in November 2021, initially purchasing a 27 per cent stake in the club.
And he has now raised his level of control on the Hammers to almost exactly 50 per cent, making him the majority owner.
West Ham have made a strong start to the Championship campaign, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side sitting top of the table after seven games played.
The Hammers have won their last four in a row, earning victories over Wrexham, Bolton Wanderers, Derby County and Wolves.
The London outfit have claimed a total of 14 points from a possible 21, winning four, drawing two and losing one.
Next up for West Ham is an EFL Cup third round clash against Fulham at home on Tuesday evening in a 7.45pm kick-off.

Staveley’s most immediate route into owning shares at West Ham was to buy the stake owned by the Gold family.
But Kretinsky has used his pre-emption rights to stave off her interest in the club, and it’s difficult to see her now getting involved in the immediate future.
The Czech businessman is obviously quite committed to the Hammers, and won’t sell his stake for anything less than a significant offer, and it remains to be seen what will happen with the shares owned by Sullivan.
So it could make sense for Staveley to turn her attention to Everton, although she won’t be able to own as much of the club for £150 million, which could put her off.
