Amar Dedic ‘to join’ Newcastle from Benfica for €35m | OneFootball

According to Sky Sports, Bosnian right-back Amar Dedic, formerly of Marseille, is expected to leave Benfica for Newcastle in a €35m deal, with a contract running to 2031.

Newcastle head coach Matthias Jaissle, German, previously worked with Dedic at Red Bull Salzburg in 2022 and 2023. Dedic turns 24 on Tuesday.

With Bosnia and Herzegovina, he has 32 caps and two goals, and was knocked out in the last World Cup round of 32 by the United States, 2-0.

At Marseille he was used as a wing-back on either flank but both positions were blocked, restricting his minutes.

A late-season switch back to a back four did not suit his more attacking profile and brought his Ligue 1 stay to a close.
