Club América are negotiating a deal for Colombian winger Jáminton Campaz of Rosario Central.
According to Americayya.net, the board want further signings in the second half of the year after adding Óscar Perea and Edwin Cerrillo, and the coaching staff are pushing for at least two more.
The move is striking given Perea operates on the left and Brian Rodríguez already covers that flank.
Campaz can also feature on the right and through the middle, though his primary role is on the left, which could point to a possible departure for Brian Rodríguez or Raphael Veiga.
He was selected by Colombia at the last World Cup and drew criticism for missing a one-on-one in the decisive match in which they were eliminated.
Talks remain under way and nothing is official. It remains to be seen whether América can finalise the signing and whether anyone leaves.
