América look to bolster back-line with AC Milan defender

AC Milan centre-back Cristián Zapata is a target for Liga MX side América.

The Colombian has fallen out of favour at the Rossoneri of late and has been linked with a summer move.

In his homeland, Il Nuevo Siglo claim that Zapata is frustrated with his lack of game time and is happy to depart as a result.

América are very interested in acquiring the 32-year-old to add stability and experience to their defence.

Zapata has a salary of €1.5m per season at the San Siro but is available on a free as his contract expires at the end of June.

Las Águilas are not the only club interested in securing the former Udinese man’s services and do face competition for his signature.

Deportivo Cali, who Zapata began his career at, are keen, along with Atlético Nacional and Flamengo.
