América are closing in on a replacement for Álvaro Fidalgo, with Fluminense midfielder Vinicius Lima emerging as the pick as the Mexican window enters its final two days.
Globo reports negotiations are advanced on a loan with an obligatory purchase option, in a deal similar to the Raphael Veiga move. An agreement is expected today, with an official announcement by tomorrow at the latest.
Lima operates in the same role as Álvaro, though he offers a more attacking profile. He is 29.
He has spent most of his career in Brazil and is an undisputed starter for Fluminense. He was part of the side that won the Copa Libertadores in the 2022/2023 season.
His arrival would make him the third Brazilian in the América squad. The coaching staff now appear to have a clearer say on signings, and before Dourado’s arrival the club had gone five years without a Brazilian player.
