Speaking on RMC Sport show l’After Foot, Algeria coach Djamel Belmadi has confirmed that Amine Gouiri (23) and Yasser Larouci (22) have both chosen to represent Les Fennecs at international level.
Both players have regularly represented France at youth level. Gouiri has represented Les Bleuts from U16 right through to U21 level. Having made his debut for the U21 side in 2019, he went on to make 31 appearances, scoring 12 goals. Larouci, meanwhile, has represented France at U19 and U21 level. The Sheffield United defender made his one and only appearance for the U21 side back in March 2022.
Speaking to l’After Foot, Algeria coach Belmadi said that Gouiri’s change of international allegiance was “a secret to no one,” adding that it is already official. He said that Lamouci’s change of international allegiance is “on the right path” and that he should also be called up for the next international break. Both players could, and likely will, be called up to the squad to face Somalia on 13th November and Mozambique on the 20th. The two players, who were part of France’s side at the European U21 championships this summer, will not represent Les Bleus at senior level.
