According to L'Équipe, Fiorentina midfielder Amir Richardson wants to join Nice this winter, with a loan move without an option to buy under discussion. The 23-year-old came through Nice’s academy and considers the club his boyhood side.
His minutes have dwindled since August, with only four appearances this season, including two in Serie A.
After 18 months in Italy, Richardson is expected to leave in January. He joined from Reims in summer 2024 for €nine million and delivered an encouraging first campaign, playing 39 times with 16 starts and improving physically and defensively.
He says he has faced a difficult spell off the pitch after the death of his father, former basketball player Micheal Ray Richardson, in November, although he felt good on the football side. He adds he did not understand his reduced role, noting that former coach Stefano Pioli, dismissed in early November, had told him he counted on him. Richardson now prefers to move in the winter window.
Nice want him on a straight loan. Strasbourg, Levante, Valencia and Cologne have also looked at his situation in recent days, but Nice are currently the most insistent. He is under contract at Fiorentina until June 2029.
Richardson grew up in Nice, trained there from under-13 to under-17 and still follows the Aiglons closely. He believes the team can shake off their poor run in the second half of the season and says Nice remains his clear priority.
