Amorim sets Milan sights on Scudetto and Europa League | OneFootball

Rúben Amorim has set Milan bold targets for his first season in charge, declaring that the Rossoneri should be aiming for the Scudetto while also backing them to win the Europa League.

According to calciomercato.com, the Milan coach refused to downplay expectations despite the scale of the rebuild he has inherited.

“I can’t come here and say that we can’t or don’t want to win the title,” Amorim said. “There’s a lot of work to do, with a new coach and changes to the squad, but when you’re at a club of Milan’s level, you have to aim for the title. So we’ll try.”

He was equally ambitious about Europe: “In the Europa League we have to believe and we have to want to win the competition.”

Amorim preaches patience as Milan chase Champions League return

For all the ambition, the Portuguese stressed that progress would take time, with a return to the Champions League framed as fundamental for the club.

“Everyone wants everything, immediately, but things done well take time,” he said. “My choice is to do the right things at the right moment.”

Amorim pointed to signs of improvement in the pre-season derby against Inter as evidence of the direction of travel.

“I saw improvements compared to the Celtic game, and let’s not forget we were up against a side that has been together for years and won the league many times,” he said, adding that his players were “suffering physically” as they adapt to a new style.

By the season opener, he promised, “we’ll be a different team, playing with a precise style”, even if still “far from perfection.”
