Liam Rosenior has confirmed he has renewed his contract as Strasbourg head coach. On the back of the Alsatians’ 3-1 home win against Saint-Etienne, the Englishman added he was delighted to extend his stay with the BlueCo-owned Ligue 1 club. The Athletic’s David Ornstein broke news on Friday that the former Hull City manager agreed to extend his Strasbourg contract until 2028. L’Equipe added that Rosenior notably turned down offers from Leicester City and Southampton – two Premier League clubs whose Championship relegations were already confirmed.
With Rosenior in the dugout, Strasbourg have gone from a relegation-fighting unit to a serious contender in the race to the Champions League places. Strasbourg are sixth in the Ligue 1 standings, only one point behind second-placed AS Monaco. Rosenior has, therefore, every reason to believe he has unfinished business in Ligue 1. “It’s great for my family and me“, Rosenior said about his contract renewal during his post-game presser. “I’m proud of it. I thought it was important for my players and the fans to commit even more, to show that I believe in the project. I’m very happy to be in this beautiful city and this club. It was an easy decision.“
