Neymar will not be available to Carlo Ancelotti for Brazil’s friendly against Egypt on Saturday, as he continues to recover from a grade two injury in his left calf.
He is progressing with individual work and could rejoin full training as early as next week, subject to medical clearance. The Brazilian federation said he will undergo an MRI on Monday which, if favourable, would allow him to train with the group.
Neymar will not travel with the squad for the Egypt fixture. He will remain in New Jersey working with physiotherapists, with the schedule designed to intensify his physical recovery.
The match in Cleveland takes place at Huntington Bank Field Stadium at 19:00 Brasília time, and is Brazil’s final warm-up before the World Cup.
The next phase hinges on those tests, with the plan focused on integrating the forward back into sessions if cleared. Brazil begin their World Cup campaign on 13 June against Morocco at the Estádio Nova York.
