Ancelotti to attend Maracanã to assess Pedro in Flamengo v Vasco

According to Coluna Do Fla, Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has promised to attend the Maracanã on Sunday to assess Pedro during Flamengo’s meeting with Vasco.

The rivals face off in the 14th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro at 16:00 Brasília time. Rede Globo will show it free-to-air, with Premiere carrying the game on pay-per-view.

Pedro has rediscovered form since Leonardo Jardim’s arrival. The striker has scored nine times in Flamengo’s last 13 matches and provided two assists.

He did not start against Estudiantes (ARG) on Wednesday 29, but is expected to return to the starting XI.

Pedro remains in contention for Brazil’s World Cup squad, with Ancelotti weighing up taking a specialist centre-forward. Igor Thiago, of Brentford, is also well regarded by the coach.
