The club said in a post that several deals had been renewed, including Ander Herrera’s. He will stay for another year after a significant salary reduction at his request.

Club manager Marcelo Delgado oversaw new deals for a number of players at the Ezeiza base during pre-season. Herrera visited the directors’ offices between training sessions to complete the paperwork.

His previous contract had expired, which contained an automatic renewal option if both parties agreed, but that path was not taken.

The Bilbao-born midfielder opted to continue, asking for his wage to be cut substantially given his limited game time since arriving due to injuries.

He is now fit again and aims to play a bigger part under Claudio Úbeda, with hopes of featuring in the Copa Libertadores.

Since joining at the start of 2025, the former Athletic Club, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Real Zaragoza player has made 17 competitive appearances, without a goal or an assist. He will seek greater continuity this year.
