André Castro announces pre-candidacy for Corinthians presidency | OneFootball

According to Meu Timao, Corinthians councillor André Castro has announced his pre-candidacy for the club’s presidency, posting a video on Saturday night.

The vote at Parque São Jorge is scheduled for 28 November, a Saturday, and will decide the president for the 2027-29 term.

In the clip, Castro said he has lived the club for 30 years and is stepping forward to present ideas for Corinthians’ future. He added that the club is going through a difficult moment and that he will set out proposals in the coming weeks, pledging seriousness, transparency and courage.

Castro, 46, is an investment manager and is in his second term as a three-year councillor. In the open elections for the 2024-26 cycle he was elected on Chapa Preto no Branco.

He also stood in last year’s indirect election following the removal of Augusto Melo, but was defeated by the current president, Osmar Stabile.

Among proposals he has mentioned is a potential injection of up to one billion dollars, about R$ 5.2 billion at current rates. He has also spoken of implementing a corporate-style management model at the club.

Four other figures have confirmed their intention to run so far, councillors Sérgio Janikian and José Augusto Mendes, plus André Negão and Rozallah Santoro.
