André Negão confirms pre-candidacy for Corinthians presidency | OneFootball

André Negão has confirmed his pre-candidacy for the Corinthians presidency, with the vote scheduled for Saturday 28 November at Parque São Jorge. According to Meu Timao, the club councillor made the announcement on Monday.

In a social media video, the businessman said he was ready to enter the race, urged supporters to pose questions rather than only criticise, and pledged to address key issues. He said he would outline his views on the SAFiel and on turning Corinthians into a Sociedade Anônima do Futebol.

This could be his second run at the post. In 2023, representing the Renovação & Transparência slate, he received 1,413 votes to his rival Augusto Melo’s 2,771, and Melo was impeached in August last year. His running mate was Milton Leite Filho, a former São Paulo City Council president who was subject to temporary arrest over an alleged link to the PCC.

A lifetime councillor and former jogo do bicho banker, the 66-year-old has held several roles at Parque São Jorge. He served as administrative director across two terms under Andrés Sánchez and as vice-president in Roberto de Andrade’s administration. He has also been vice-president of the Deliberative Council and chair of the Ethics and Discipline Commission, and has been involved with the club since the late 1980s.

Away from the pitch, he has remained close to Andrés Sánchez, serving as the former president’s parliamentary aide during his spell as a federal deputy in Brasília.

At present there are three confirmed pre-candidates for the presidency, with fellow councillors Sérgio Janikian and José Augusto Mendes also formalising bids last week. All have been invited to a YouTube Q&A.
