André Sousa to retire at 40 at season’s end

André Sousa, the former Benfica futsal goalkeeper, will retire at the end of this season aged 40.
The player said in a post that the decision was not easy, but he feels it is the right moment to close this chapter. He also expressed pride in what he has achieved in futsal.
He plans to enjoy his final months on court and to keep giving everything until the last game.
This season, with the side currently third in the league, he has 18 appearances and two goals.
Sousa moved from Sporting to Benfica in 2019, staying for five seasons until 2024. He made 85 appearances and scored three goals, winning the Taça de Portugal in 2022/23 and two Taças da Liga in 2019/20 and 2022/23.
