Andreas Pereira of Palmeiras has been named in Carlo Ancelotti’s 55-player provisional Brazil squad for the 2026 World Cup, submitted to FIFA on Monday night.

According to Globo.com, the final 26 will be unveiled on Monday at 17:00 Brasília time at the Museu do Amanhã in Rio de Janeiro.

Pereira underwent tests on Monday after a blow to the back suffered in Sunday’s draw with Remo in Belém. No fracture was found, with a diagnosis of lumbar trauma, lighter than first feared.

He last joined the Seleção in September last year, called up to replace striker Kaio Jorge, who sustained a muscle injury in the win over Chile. Having just arrived at Palmeiras, he travelled for the final qualifier against Bolivia.

This year he had targeted a strong start, viewing the first six months as the most important of his career because of his World Cup ambition. Returning to Brazil and signing for Palmeiras was partly to stay closer to the national team.

The 30-year-old leads the Alviverde for assists this season with nine, and has scored two goals in 30 appearances.
