Andreea Koenig says RC Lens women are preparing for every scenario as they await a possible reprieve to the top flight. According to L'Équipe, Dijon have been excluded from the national competitions by the DNCG, leaving 11th-placed Lens, relegated to the second tier, in contention to remain in the elite.

The saga has rumbled on for months and could be settled by mid-July. Koenig said she was saddened by Dijon’s situation and would have preferred to secure survival on the pitch, but underlined that the club must be ready for all outcomes.

Lens unveiled new head coach Loïc Fiévet on Thursday morning, following the departure of Sarah M’Barek earlier in the week after six years at the club. Koenig said the decision followed a long sequence of discussions, procedures were respected and the change should not be seen as a surprise.

This week the club also confirmed 18 players had left at the end of their contracts and 12 arrivals to launch a new cycle. Koenig said planning is essential and the club were prepared, in budget and recruitment terms, to operate in either division before the season ended. Whatever happens, the target is to be in the elite in 2027-28.

If DFCO do not appeal and the sanction is upheld, Lens would return to the top flight next season with a squad that must find cohesion quickly. Fiévet said players emphasised the collective in individual meetings and that unity is the priority, helped by an early start to pre-season. He outlined a front-foot, intense and controlled approach in line with Racing’s recent identity, with opportunities for all profiles to progress.
