It had been documented for some time that Nestor was set to leave the Black Country outfit, with Maccabi Tel Aviv's Dominic Price believed to be waiting in the wings to seal a move as Albion’s new technical director.

It has certainly been a whirlwind few weeks in the Albion boardroom, with the club shifting the dynamic of managers by bringing in Eric Ramsay to replace Ryan Mason, although that decision hasn’t worked out on the pitch so far, with the players failing to produce positive results in a change of system.

Over Ramsay's four games in charge, the Baggies have lost three and drawn one, conceding a whopping 12 goals and now possessing the worst goal difference in the league barring basement boys Sheffield Wednesday.

News originally emerged from The Telegraph’s John Percy at the start of February that Nestor was considering his future due to friction within the board over the change of club strategy.

He had reportedly been left frustrated at their change of direction and squad planning, with the summer transfer window used to bring players in that would fit Mason’s system.

But after hiring Ramsay and changing to a three-back setup, there were concerns that the players would not be able to fit the playing style that the Welshman was pursuing, and that has been backed up by the results so far.

And after a few days of speculation, Nestor has finally waved goodbye to The Hawthorns, ending his partnership that began since Bilkul acquired ownership of the club in February 2024.

There certainly seemed to be no love lost between West Brom and Andrew Nestor, with both issuing very short statements over the exit.

Albion announced Nestor’s departure on their website, which included just three paragraphs, detailing his various roles at the club.

It read: “Albion can confirm that Andrew Nestor has departed The Hawthorns by mutual agreement.

“Andrew had been a member of Bilkul Football Group since its acquisition of the club in February 2024, and later served the club across various sporting and non-sporting capacities including being named Sporting Director in the summer of 2024, before transitioning to the role of President in September 2025.

“The club thanks Andrew for his contributions and wishes him well in the future.”

Meanwhile, Nestor himself issued a parting message to Albion supporters on his X account, tweeting an eight-word statement.

That read: “Wishing everyone at The Albion the very best.”

It very naturally got Baggies supporters swarming to his comments section to direct their dismay, blaming much of the club’s rapid decline on his managerial decisions.

Despite his good intentions and steering the club around rocky P&S troubles, Andrew Nestor failed to deliver the right managerial appointments, which has been a major factor in the club being threatened with the possibility of League One football next season.

Struggling amidst a troubling financial backdrop, the sensible solution would have been to find a safe and experienced pair of hands to take over the club and make sure they weren’t nosediving towards the bottom end of the table, then attack a promotion campaign the following term when the ownership could throw additional funds into player investment.

But they decided to use a data-driven approach to appoint a novice coach in Ryan Mason, who had no experience of managing in the second-tier before.

It showed too, with his lack of proactiveness on the touchline and inability to be adaptable with his playing style leading to the club losing 10 straight matches away from home.

But they've now gone for the same profile for Mason's replacement when having another opportunity to go for an experienced head, so it’s no surprise to see the Baggies plummeting and looking destined for Championship relegation at the moment.

Nestor has rightfully left the building, but there are other parts of the club at the top that are missing leadership and direction, with it all culminating in a disastrous season on the pitch.

The Baggies must get the right figures in with key footballing knowledge to help steer themselves away from the relegation mire, with this historic club on the verge of adding to the list of previous top-flight clubs that have fallen into the depths of League One.
