autaro Martinez is in form but Marcus Thuram has been ruled out for Inter’s clash against Napoli this weekend. Last season, this would have been a cause for concern but this season, it is an opportunity for Inter fans to watch their two promising young strikers ply their trade against the Scudetto holders.

Manager Cristhian Chivu now has Ange Yoan Bonny who is 22, and Pio Esposito, who is 20 to call upon. Both have had really positive starts to this season and will be competing for a spot in the lineup against Thuram, Martinez and each other for the rest of the season.

Frenchman Bonny was signed from Parma in the summer, where he had already worked with Chivu. He already has 7 contributions this season, and is probably a more like for like replacement for Thuram in terms of the threat in transition that he possesses. It is expected thus that he will take up the starting spot against Napoli.

Francesco Pio Esposito is an interesting one. Having come through at Inter, this is finally the season that he is a first team member. The smooth target man has 5 goal contributions already this season and has already scored for Italy as well. It is more likely that he comes off the bench against Napoli.

Bonny and Esposito are a long way removed from the likes of Marco Arnautovic and Mehdi Taremi, in terms of being back-up to Martinez and Thuram. Inter finally have two strikers who are young, hungry and full of potential. Napoli, as well as the rest of Serie A, should be wary.
