Angel Correa leaves Tigres and joins River Plate

Angel Correa has left Tigres UANL to join River Plate, returning to Argentina. River Plate announced his arrival on Friday. The 31-year-old is a 2022 world champion with Argentina.

The forward has signed until the end of the 2029 calendar year, with the club paying around €13m. He has 28 caps and three goals for Argentina.

Correa spent 10 seasons at Atlético Madrid after joining from San Lorenzo in 2015, making 469 appearances and scoring 88 goals.

With Atlético he won LaLiga in 2021, the Europa League in 2018 and the UEFA Super Cup the same year.

At Tigres, he featured in May's CONCACAF Champions Cup final, a 1-1 draw against Toluca that was lost 6-5 on penalties. It was André-Pierre Gignac’s final match for the Monterrey-based club.
