Cruzeiro are pushing to take Matías Viña on loan from Flamengo, with the left-back currently at River Plate. They must complete a deal by the end of Friday as the transfer window closes.

Central da Toca first reported the approach. Viña has been with River on loan since January and remains under contract with Flamengo until 2028, and a pending matter between River and Flamengo would need resolving for any move to proceed.

River have been open to sending Viña back to Flamengo, but Flamengo insist his wages continue to be paid until the end of the loan.

The player is not against joining Cruzeiro. He wants more playing time and views the move as a chance to feature more.

Flamengo are seeking financial compensation, but Cruzeiro believe they can navigate that request and bring in the left-back at no cost.

Viña has made 14 appearances for River this year. He played in 10 matches for Flamengo last season, and in 2024 he featured 22 times. At Cruzeiro he would compete with Gabriel Rojas and Villalba.
