River Plate have confirmed the signing of Ángel Correa on a deal to 31 December 2029. The club announced it via social media, sharing a photo with president Stefano Di Carlo.
The confirmation followed an agreement with Tigres de México for the player’s permanent transfer. After a successful medical, Correa signed to start a new chapter in Argentine football.
Aged 31, the former San Lorenzo forward joins the fourth club of his career. He debuted for the Ciclón, winning the Torneo Inicial 2013 and the 2014 Copa Libertadores before moving to Atlético de Madrid.
In Spain he spent more than a decade and won the 2018 Europa League, the 2018 UEFA Super Cup and LaLiga 2020/21.
He most recently played for Tigres de México, making 54 appearances with 23 goals and 13 assists. That return prompted River’s move.
Correa was part of Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina, winning the 2021 Copa América and the 2022 World Cup. He now aims to add experience to Marcelo Gallardo’s side this season.
