According to L'Équipe, OM midfielder Angel Gomes could make way for Amine Harit in the No 10 role when Marseille face PSG on Sunday at 20:45 in Ligue 1’s matchday 5.
The squad returned to Marseille in the night from Thursday to Friday, rested on Saturday morning, then trained in the afternoon and dined at la Commanderie before heading home. Bruno Genesio did not stage a full tactical run-through or name his XI. He will refine his plan on Sunday before kick-off.
Asked about switching to a back five, a change that under De Zerbi saw OM win the last Classique at the Vélodrome in September 2025 by 1-0, Genesio said he has that game in mind but does not think the system needs changing right now. He pointed to the first 50-55 minutes in Rennes and in Istanbul, where his side matched strong opponents who spent heavily in the close season. He added that the final half-hour was more difficult.
If he sticks with a classic set-up, Harit could operate as the playmaker. Keyliane Abdallah and Igor Paixao could provide pace on the flanks.
Geoffrey Kondogbia remains out with an adductor problem and should return to training in early October. Tochukwu Nnadi, who suffered a meniscus injury at Monaco, will not undergo surgery. His recovery could take longer.
