Angelo Fulgini will represent New Caledonia at the intercontinental play-off for the 2026 World Cup, starting against Jamaica on 27 March in Guadalajara, Mexico.
According to L'Équipe, the 29-year-old, on loan at Al-Taawoun from Lens, has received his first call-up to the Pacific nation.
The attacking midfielder brings top-flight pedigree, with 218 Ligue 1 matches for Angers then Lens, and 16 Bundesliga outings with Mainz.
New Caledonia are 150th in the FIFA rankings and are aiming to reach their first World Cup. If they beat Jamaica, 70th, they would face DR Congo, 48th, four days later.
Beyond Fulgini, the Cagous squad is largely drawn from the local league and France’s lower tiers. William Rocouas even plays in Regional 3, the 8th level.
