In an exclusive interview with Bundesliga, Angelo Stiller dissects what would constitute a perfect season for Stuttgart. Sebastian Hoeneß's side sit in third place with only five games left to play in the Bundesliga season.

"My perfect season would definitely be qualifying for the Champions League,” said the 25-year-old midfielder before going over his targets one by one. “Finishing third in the Bundesliga, winning the DFB-Pokal, and being nominated for the World Cup squad."

The big win over HSV extended Stuttgart’s lead over fifth-placed Bayer Leverkusen to four points. Meanwhile, they await next midweek's DFB-Pokal semi-final tie with neighbours Freiburg.

“I already believe that we are playing an extremely good season so far with good football, and I believe that everyone in the city, everyone who watches us, appreciates what we are trying to do and what we stand for in football."

On a personal note, Stiller linked his success to his team's performance. "I believe the main focus is how the team performs, because if the team performs, then I also perform better. I want to make them as successful as possible, and then I would say that I have had a very good season and I am very satisfied with myself."

The sought-after midfielder also mentioned this summer’s World Cup as one of his career goals. "I think it is always a bonus if you can play in a World Cup. I think that is the biggest thing for every footballer. If you can be part of that, it is the icing on the cake of the season."

Stiller was a late addition to Julian Nagelsmann’s recent squad after injuries to Aleksandar Pavlović and Felix Nmecha, but he started both friendlies against Switzerland and Ghana. He has only featured in the opening matchday defeat in Slovakia during the World Cup qualifiers.
