The Ligue 1 match Angers-Lille, for matchday 23, will be played behind closed doors on Sunday due to severe flooding in Anjou. According to L'Équipe, around 5,000 residents in Angers have water in their homes, cellars or streets.

The fixture’s status had been in doubt, but it has been kept on the calendar without spectators. The decision follows extensive disruption across the area.

Angers’ La Baumette training centre was affected, prompting the squad to relocate sessions. Stade Raymond-Kopa is not in a flood zone, so the pitch remains playable.

Moving supporters to the ground safely is deemed difficult, hence the decision. The priority is ensuring safe access around the city.

The club faces a loss of matchday income with no gate receipts.
