Anísio Cabral has signed a new Benfica contract running until 2031. The club said in a statement that the 18-year-old forward agreed a five-season extension, announced late on Monday afternoon, 16 February.

Cabral turned 18 on 15 February. The announcement arrived via the club’s official channels after prolonged speculation.

The renewal reflects Benfica’s faith in a youngster who has impressed in recent weeks under José Mourinho. The club had sought to finalise terms since Portugal’s under-17 World Cup triumph.

It is the first of several contract files the board, led by Rui Costa, aims to close in the coming months. Next targets include José Neto and Daniel Banjaqui.

This season Cabral, valued at five million euros, has made three senior appearances, all in the Liga Portugal Betclic, totalling 19 minutes and two goals. He wears shirt number 72.
