Jamal Musiala continues to struggle with ailments – now new details about his injury have emerged

FC Bayern are currently without Jamal Musiala – and the background to his absence provides a more detailed insight into the situation. As reported by kicker, the attacking star’s current problems are directly linked to his serious injury from last summer

According to the report, a decisive moment occurred during the Champions League first leg against Atalanta Bergamo (6:1): after coming on as a substitute, Musiala suddenly heard a distinct clicking noise in his ankle – in the exact spot where he had previously suffered a serious injury. Shortly afterwards, he had to leave the pitch again

The good news for FC Bayern is that it is not a new structural injury, but pain has returned to the affected area, which is currently preventing him from returning

The pain is a direct result of the serious injury from the summer, when Musiala suffered a fractured fibula and a dislocated ankle joint. Such after-effects are not unusual in the healing process – but are nevertheless a cause for caution among those responsible

Since then, the 23-year-old has been working intensively on his comeback. Musiala is currently completing an extensive rehabilitation program and, according to reports, is training up to eight hours a day – both at Säbener Straße and individually at home

Comeback with Real Madrid in sight

A hasty comeback is out of the question for the attacking player. Musiala will only return to team training once the pain has completely subsided. The current plan is for him to return in the course of the coming week and gradually be introduced to the game through short appearances

According to kicker, the Bayern star has a clear goal in mind: the Champions League clash against Real Madrid. Musiala is determined to be involved when the Munich team are aiming to reach the semi-finals

However, Joshua Kimmich also recently assessed the situation and urged patience: „He had a very serious injury. It’s not so easy to come back and get back to his old level straight away.“

Bayern remain relaxed – Kompany relies on patience

Despite the absence, FC Bayern have been stable so far, with players such as Lennart Karl and Serge Gnabry able to close the gap in their attacking play, at least in phases

Coach Vincent Kompany therefore sees no reason to worry about Musiala and is deliberately focusing on a cautious build-up: „I’m not worried at all, but it’s a process that needs a bit of time.“

Nevertheless, Musiala remains a key player for Munich. One thing is clear: as soon as he is fit again, he will bring a quality to the game that few players in world soccer possess – and which could be decisive in the final stages of the season.
