Ansu Fati has closed his FC Barcelona chapter with a heartfelt farewell message after completing his permanent move to AS Monaco.
The 23-year-old spent last season on loan at the French club, who have now activated their €11 million purchase option to sign him permanently.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Ansu convinced Monaco during his loan spell, scoring 12 goals and showing flashes of the talent that once made him one of Barcelona’s biggest hopes.
On social media, Ansu wrote:
“Hello culers!! I arrived here as a child, La Masia was my home. I enjoyed every match and every tournament, and I defended these colours above all else. We won, we lost, but the most important thing is that I learned every day the values this club represents. I met many incredible people: teammates who became brothers, coaches, physios, cooks, press staff and directors. Thank you all for these unforgettable years. I fulfilled the dream of any child lucky enough to wear this shirt: playing for the first team! Now it is time to say goodbye. It has been a dream to defend these colours. Thank you for everything FC Barcelona. Thank you for everything, culers. Visca el Barca and visca Catalunya!”
For Barcelona fans, Ansu’s exit is emotional because of what he once represented. He was not just another academy talent. He felt like a symbol of hope during a difficult transition.
Injuries changed the path of his career, and the explosive version that first captured Camp Nou never fully returned in Blaugrana colours.
Still, this farewell should be remembered with warmth. Ansu gave Barca unforgettable moments, carried huge pressure at a young age, and now leaves with gratitude rather than bitterness.
For the club, the deal also makes sense. Barcelona receive a transfer fee, reduce the wage bill, and keep a 20 percent sell-on clause for the future.
Now the hope is simple: Ansu finds rhythm, confidence, and joy again in Monaco. Sometimes leaving Barca is not failure. Sometimes it is the only way to begin again.
