Ansu Fati’s (22) commitment at AS Monaco has been called into question, according to a report from L’Équipe.
The Barcelona loanee was carefully managed over the summer and didn’t make his debut with Les Monégasques until September. But when he did play, he was impactful. He netted on his first UEFA Champions League appearance for the club and would then net five goals in his first three Ligue 1 encounters.
However, he has since struggled. His output has been non-existent since Sébastien Pocognoli replaced Adi Hutter on the touchline. The Spaniard has not been helped by a hamstring injury, which ruled him out of the final two Ligue 1 games of the calendar year.
But L’Équipe understands that the problem is more profound. When Mohammed Salisu criticised those who didn’t defend during the 2-2 draw against Pafos in the UCL, he was directly targeting Fati, whose “daily commitment” has also been criticised at times this season.
