Kylian Mbappé (27) is set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up a knee ligameny injury, according to L’Equipe. The Real Madrid centre-forward did not torn his ACL, but an MRI has confirmed an external ligament lesion requiring treatment and rest. The outlet understands that Mbappé will, at least, miss three weeks of action with Real Madrid, which means he will miss the Spanish Super Cup and Madrid’s final two Champions League games in the league phase.
L’Equipe adds that Mbappé has played through the pain for Madrid’s recent games and felt that he could not pick up as much speed as he was capable of. The France international did not think it was a serious injury. Mbappé’s absence is reportedly causing concern at Real Madrid, who have grown dependant of the Frenchman’s output.
